You are welcome to pick up for friends. For those who aren’t local or don’t manage to come by, we will mail your items to you soon after Senior Day.

Wednesday, May 5: 1-3 PM
Thursday, May 6: 1-3 PM.

Yes, as is tradition, graduate names will be read by faculty and senior administrators during the ceremony. Only students who opted out will not have their names read.

We encourage friends and family to watch the ceremony beginning at 2:00 p.m. EDT at classof2021.law.umich.edu. For those who are unable to attend, the ceremony will remain available after its conclusion for viewing at classof2021.law.umich.edu.

All faculty, graduates, family, and friends are welcome to join a live, virtual reception on Remoa web-based events platformfrom 4-5 PM EDT on Friday, May 7. To set up your Remo profile and join the reception, visit https://live.remo.co/e/senior-day-reception.

Law School degrees are not conferred during the Senior Day exercises. The formal awarding of degrees will not happen until final exams have been graded and an audit of degree requirements has been completed by the Law School’s Office of Student Records. This can take up to six to eight weeks following the commencement date.

Diplomas will be mailed to the graduate’s permanent address or to the Diploma Address if one has been created by the student in Wolverine Access. Diplomas are mailed approximately 6-8 weeks after the ceremony. To change the address to which your diploma will be mailed, visit https://ro.umich.edu/records-registration/personal-information and follow the instructions.

Law School diplomas are 11 in. x 14 in.

The decision to host a virtual ceremony came after conversations with graduating students, a survey of our May graduates, and much discussion with University leaders and consultation with public health officials. When planning for the ceremony, it was impossible to predict factors such as infection and vaccination rates, travel guidelines, and when state and local limits on gatherings might change. We know that some students remained at their permanent residence for the winter semester, and asking them to travel to campus would not be appropriate. Ultimately because of these concerns, the University decided that all unit commencement ceremonies, including Senior Day, would be virtual.

Yes. The Law School and the University are continuing to consider options for inviting graduates from this year’s class back to campus for special future in-person events. The University is also inviting all graduates who missed out on an in-person ceremony due to COVID-19 to attend and participate in any future Commencement of their choosing. They and their families will be honored guests at these future ceremonies and graduates will be recognized not just for the completion of their degrees but also for their resilience and fortitude in persevering during these challenging times.

Congratulations, Graduates!
